PORT CHARLES EPISODE SUMMARIES: NOVEMBER 1997

Monday, November 3, 1997 (Episode #111)

Scott was frantic when he couldn't find Serena. Shortly thereafter, however, Scott found Serena hiding under some bushes in
the yard. Serena told Scott that she had run off because she was afraid that the "bad people" would take her away from Scott.
Lucy, Scott and Gail then comforted Serena. Eve and Scott continued to bond and Lucy wasn't too pleased to learn that Eve
was doing her best to comfort Scott. Later, Lucy shared her anxiety with Kevin over her upcoming fertility tests. Bennett
offered a large reward for Julie's safe return and Chris bought a billboard to advertise Julie's disappearance and the reward.
Frank and Garcia questioned a hospital orderly whose ID had been stolen on the night Julie disappeared. Garcia and Frank
also spoke to a security guard who remembered that he had encountered an orderly who had been using the ID in question as
he was taking a body to the morgue. Frank and Bennett later learned that no body had been delivered to the morgue on the
night Julie disappeared and they wondered if the phony orderly had taken Julie out of the hospital on a gurney. Meanwhile,
Cooper was ready to start Julie's surgical makeover. Julie resisted and knocked over a bottle of anesthetic Cooper needed for
the surgery. A furious Cooper then left to get more anesthesia as Julie prayed that she would be rescued before he returned.

Tuesday, November 4, 1997 (Episode #112)

Scott had a frustrating confrontation with Rex and Danielle over the custody suit. Scott then took Serena away alone without getting the approval of the social worker or Lee and Gail. Later, Gail called Lucy and told her that Scott and Serena were missing. Fearing that Scott had fled the country with Serena, Lucy asked Karen for her help in locating them. Meanwhile, Karen confronted Jake about his involvement in Rex and Danielle's scheme to get custody of Serena. Garcia arrived at the
hospital with a police sketch of the man suspected of kidnapping Julie that had been obtained with the help of a photo developer who had remembered developing pictures of Julie. All of the interns were shocked when the man in the sketch turned out to be Cooper. Audrey finally realized that Cooper had been the orderly she encountered in the hall on the night Julie disappeared. Meanwhile, Cooper sneaked into the hospital to steal more anesthesia and overheard Audrey telling Mary that the police had a sketch of Cooper. Eve found a patients watch in her locker and initially accused Chris of planting it there. Soon, however, the interns realized that the plot to discredit them continued. Lucy and Kevin met with Dr. Neumann, who gave them the troubling news that Lucy might have problems conceiving another child and carrying it to term.

Wednesday, November 5, 1997 (Episode #113)

Frank and Chris were convinced that Cooper was still alive and was somehow responsible for Julie's disappearance. Detective Garcia then agreed to contact the coroner, despite evidence saying that Cooper was dead. Later, Garcia confirmed Frank's suspicions when he was unable to find irrefutable evidence that Cooper had died in the explosion. Mary told Garcia the story about the strange disappearance of Father Wysocki and Garcia started to investigate. Meanwhile, Julie remained locked in the basement while Cooper made his way to the supply room in the hospital to steal more anesthetic. While trying to break into the supply room, however, Cooper was stopped by a guard and was forced to flee. Lucy and Karen found Scott and Serena at the gazebo. While Karen occupied Serena, Lucy blasted Scott for considering fleeing with Serena. Scott and Lucy then reiterated the importance of their friendship to one another. Mac called Lucy on her cell phone and Scott and Lucy learned that Mac had tracked down the casino owner who had framed Scott. Scott, however, was unaware that someone was taking his picture as he spent time with Serena during their illegal visit. A gleeful Rex spied on Danielle through his surveillance system as she snooped about his study. Rex then toyed with Danielle and told her that he wanted to create a nurturing environment for everyone, including Serena.

Thursday, November 6, 1997 (Episode #114)
Garcia took into account all the evidence that supported Cooper was still alive and then agreed to go to the Cooper family home with Frank to investigate. Meanwhile, Cooper told Julie that he had been unable to get the anesthesia and that he would return to the hospital later to try again. Cooper and Julie heard Frank and Garcia enter the house and Julie screamed. Cooper quickly gagged Julie and Frank and Garcia left the house without finding her or Cooper. Karen apologized to Eve for the way
she had been treating her since learning about Eve's affair with Bennett. Eve understood Karen's viewpoint and they talked about the affair, but were unaware that Nicole had overheard their every word. Scott and Mac confronted the casino owner who had turned over the alleged evidence against Scott. Scott and Mac learned that there were two years worth of ledger entries made in Scott's name and that Scott's signature had been forged. Scott accused the casino owner of being Rex's
stooge, but the casino owner admitted nothing. Later, Justus told Scott that Rex was challenging Lee and Gail's custody of Serena. Lucy dabbled in herbal fertility potions and coaxed Kevin into doing the same. Lucy and Kevin voiced their love for one another and began to make love again. Matt demonstrated the standing wheelchair to Ellen and Boardman. Boardman, however, warned Matt that the other surgeons at the hospital might not support Matt's presence in the operating room.

Friday, November 7, 1997 (Episode #115)
Cooper returned to General Hospital to try and steal the anesthetic he needed to perform Julie's plastic surgery. While at the hospital, however, Copper was discovered by Boardman and a struggle ensued in which Boardman was critically injured. After Cooper escaped, Matt found Boardman bleeding to death and Matt saved his life. Meanwhile, Frank and Garcia returned to the Cooper family home looking for Cooper and Julie. Rex and Danielle used Scott's violation of the terms of Serena's custody
to challenge Lee and Gail's guardianship of the child. Rex provided the court with compelling reasons why Serena should be removed from Lee and Gail's care. Gail, Lucy and Karen were all forced to testify against Scott. Scott, however, then made a passionate plea to have Serena remain with Lee and Gail. Nicole confronted Eve and Bennett about their affair and wondered if Julie's disappearance had anything to do with finding out about Bennett's infidelity.

Monday, November 10, 1997 (Episode #116)

The judge ruled in Lee and Gail's favor and allowed them to retain temporary custody of Serena. It was also decided that Scott would only be allowed to visit Serena at the offices of Child Welfare. Scott was relieved that Serena would be staying with Lee and Gail, but remained adamant about getting Serena back. Later, Rex overheard Scott making plans to fly to the Cayman Islands, which would be a violation of Scott's bail. Frank and Chris went to the Cooper family home in search of Cooper and Julie. After a tense standoff in which Cooper held a scalpel to Julie's neck, Frank was able to rescue Julie with Chris' assistance. Garcia arrested Cooper and took him off to jail as Chris watched Julie reunite with Frank and her family. Chris then became jealous when Nicole and Bennett praised Frank for rescuing Julie. Joe and Karen treated a man with chest pains and diagnosed that he was only suffering from acid indigestion and was not having a heart attack. The grateful patient then insisted that Joe and Karen have a free dinner at his Italian restaurant. Joe and Karen were hesitant to the idea, but finally agreed to have dinner together as friends. Boardman thanked Matt for saving his life. Ellen had the pleasure of telling Mattt that he had
been placed on the next days surgical schedule and that Monica Quartermaine wanted him to assist her. Matt, nervous about the upcoming surgery, then took the time to familiarize himself with his new equipment.

Tuesday, November 11, 1997 (Episode #117)
Scott enjoyed himself as he continued to turn the tables on Rex. Scott, Lucy and Kevin met with Rex's private investigator and Scott blackmailed him into working against Rex. Later, Scott called Rex and claimed to have hired Rex's personal chef for himself. An unnerved Rex then fired his chef. Rex then learned that his private investigator was now working for Scott and Danielle was amused that Scott was getting to Rex. Kevin headed to the Cayman Islands in order to find evidence that would help clear Scott. Kevin arrived in his hotel room and found a menacing lizard in his bed. Kevin thought that Rex had planted the beast, but he was mistaken and the incident turned out to be an innocent mishap. Scott spoke to the reporter who had written the unflattering story about him and Scott gave the reporter his version of Rex. Frank prepared breakfast for Julie, who was still shaken by her ordeal with Cooper. Bennett arrived and insulted Frank by offering him the reward money for rescuing Julie. Frank then suggested that the money be donated to the Dominique Baldwin Pediatric Center at the hospital. Bennett had a heart to heart talk with Julie, who told him that she wouldn't tell Nicole about his affair with Eve. Julie said that she wanted her family to be happy again and Bennett didn't have the heart to tell Julie that Nicole already knew about the affair. Julie then invited Nicole to dinner. Privately, Nicole told Bennett that dinner together wouldn't change things between them. Matt assisted Monica Quartermaine in surgery and he performed brilliantly. Afterwards, Monica praised Matt's work and Ellen was extremely pleased for him.

Wednesday, November 12, 1997 (Episode #118)
Frank, Mary and Julie prepared dinner for Nicole and Bennett. Meanwhile, Nicole and Bennett, who were on their way to the Scanlons, resolved to be civil to one another during dinner despite their marital problems. Nicole asked Bennett how his affair with Eve had begun and Bennett claimed that Eve had instigated the liaison. Nicole didn't buy Bennett's story and then told him her version of how she believed the affair had started, which put the blame squarely on Bennett. The dinner went smoothly until Eve arrived looking for a file she had left behind. Eve's arrival caused immediate tension and she made a quick exit after
retrieving her file. Chris, who had driven Eve over to the Scanlons, felt left out of the rescue celebration and Julie felt badly for not having invited Chris to join them. Julie then decided to throw a party at the Recovery Room for everyone who had helped in her rescue. Joe and Karen got ready for their dinner together and continued to deny to their family and friends that they were going on a date. The evening, however, turned into more of a romantic date than either Joe or Karen could have ever thought. Joe and Karen then decided to go on a real date since everyone assumed they were dating anyway.

Thursday, November 13, 1997 (Episode #119)
Scott enlisted Eve's help in acquiring Rex's credit card number. Eve went with Chris to the restaurant where Rex was dining with Danielle and devised a ruse to switch their checks. Meanwhile, at the restaurant, Rex read the story that Scott had given to the reporter and Rex became incensed. Danielle then pushed Rex's buttons further by asking him the time he spent in a mental institution. Later, Eve managed to write down Rex's credit card number after "accidentally" bumping into him and exchanging their checks. Eve then delivered the information to Scott. In the Cayman Islands, Lucy and Kevin learned about the corporation Rex set up in Scott's name to hide the money from the fenced diamonds used for Serena's ransom. Lucy and Kevin then tried to bribe the worker at the mail drop station to give them the number for the account associated with the box rental. Later, Lucy spoke with the banker in the Cayman Islands, but failed to get information about the account from him. The banker then told Lucy that the information could only be released to Scott himself. Lucy then called Scott and told him that he would have to be dead in order to get the information. Karen bought a new dress for Julie's party at the Recovery Room. Karen told Julie that she and Joe had decided to go to the party together as each other's date. Julie was happy for Karen and told her that it was about time for her and Joe to start dating. Later, Karen told Matt that he had been the inspiration for her changing her life, but she realized it wouldn't be as easy as she had thought.

Friday, November 14, 1997 (Episode #120)
Julie threw a party at the Recovery Room to thank everyone who worked to help rescue her from Cooper. Julie, however, admitted to Frank that she hadn't invited Eve to the party. Later, Chris asked Eve to be his date for Julie's party and Eve accepted. Julie was astounded when Eve showed up at the party, but Karen gave Eve credit for coming. Meanwhile, Matt
was impressed when Ellen arrived at the party wearing dreadlocks. Matt asked Ellen to dance but she turned him down. Matt then danced with Grace. Chris made sure that Julie noticed him kissing Eve. Ellen told Matt that he had a good chance of winning the Quartermaine residency. Matt, however, told Ellen that it would be a conflict of interest if he and Ellen were dating. Ellen then made it clear that she wouldn't date an intern. At the end of the party, Julie learned that Nicole already knew about Bennett and Eve's affair. Joe and Karen enjoyed being on their first real date at Julie's party. After the party, Karen invited Joe back to her apartment and neither one wanted the date to end. Kevin, posing as Scott's lawyer, met with the banker in the Cayman Islands and ended getting some information that could help Scott.

Monday, November 17, 1997 (Episode #121)

Lucy and Kevin returned from the Cayman Islands and were ecstatic that they had been able to help Scott. Meanwhile, Scott learned the bad news that he had no alibi for his whereabouts on the day that the signature card for the bank in the Cayman Islands was signed. Scott then interrupted Kevin and Lucy's romantic interlude to share the bad news with them. Scott also told Kevin and Lucy that he needed to get someone on the inside to get closer to Rex. Lucy then astounded Kevin when she said that she had an idea on how to get closer to Rex and that it involved her pretending to break up with Kevin. Julie's party was ruined by Bennett and Nicole's very public fight. Nicole became angry when she learned that Julie already knew about Bennett and Eve's affair. Later, Nicole went to the Recovery Room for a drink and was joined by Chris. Joe and Karen ended their first real date with a passionate kiss. Both Karen and Joe, however, decided that their relationship was too important to rush and they agreed to take things slowly. The next day, Karen and Joe worked together and treated a teenager who had come to the hospital with an injured arm. Matt was buoyed when Monica congratulated him on the great job he had done in surgery. Because Ellen had previously rejected him, Matt then asked Grace out to dinner to celebrate.

Tuesday, November 18, 1997 (Episode #122)
Lucy told Scott and Kevin about her idea on how to get closer to Rex. Lucy explained to Scott and Kevin that she would pretend to break up with Kevin and make Rex believe that her obsession over Serena was to blame. Lucy would then get closer to Rex and be able to dig for details about his scheme. Scott thought it was a good idea, but Kevin refused to go along with Lucy's scheme and claimed that Rex was too dangerous for Lucy to get involved with. Meanwhile, Jake told Danielle that he wanted nothing more to do with her. Serena ran into Danielle and identified her as the woman who was trying to take her away from Scott. Karen then confronted Danielle about her role in Rex's plan. Later, Rex made it clear to Danielle that he would never give up on his scheme against Scott. Bennett told Eve that Nicole had threatened to leave him. Bennett then told Eve that he didn't want his marriage to end and asked Eve to tell Nicole that he had never loved Eve. Later, Eve spoke to Nicole, who didn't accept Eve's explanation about her affair with Bennett. Matt and Grace enjoyed their first date together.

Wednesday, November 19, 1997 (Episode #123)
Scott and Lucy discussed the feasibility of carrying out their plan to get Lucy into Rex's camp. Meanwhile, Rex nearly caught Danielle as she was packing her things. Rex apologized to Danielle for all she had been put through and assured her that everything would work out once they had custody of Serena and her inheritance. After Rex left, Danielle finished packing and headed for Scott's. Danielle confessed her part in Serena's kidnapping to Scott and said that she would testify against Rex. Scott was livid at first, but was then won over by Danielle's willingness to confess and realized he now had a way to disprove the kidnapping charges against him. Scott, however, wanted Danielle to postpone giving him the details of her confession until he could arrange for Conklin to witness it. Rex, meanwhile, learned that Danielle had left. Julie's post-trauma stress and pressure from her feuding parents caused her to have a nightmare. Julie felt like she was caught in the middle after both Bennett and Nicole announced that they were planning to stay in Port Charles and Julie took her frustration out on Ellen. Ellen overheard the details about Matt's date with Grace. Ellen tried not to let her jealousy get to her but ended up lashing out at Grace for defending Julie's outburst.

Thursday, November 20, 1997 (Episode #124)
Danielle received a call from Rex just moments before she was about to give Conklin her statement. Rex told Danielle that Conklin worked for him and a panicked Danielle fled. Danielle left a message for Scott saying that she had run off in order to stay safe until she could give her statement to the authorities. Later, however, Danielle was brought into the emergency room at General Hospital after being involved in a car accident. Julie became angry at Bennett and made it clear that she would no longer allow herself to be put in the middle of her parents problems. Bennett was optimistic about the future of his marriage after receiving a lunch invitation from Nicole. Bennett met Nicole at Mario's and hoped to gain her forgiveness. Nicole told Bennett that she didn't think she could ever forgive him and Julie arrived just in time to hear Nicole telling Bennett that she wanted a divorce. Frank checked up on Remy, the teenage patient he met at the hospital. Frank wondered why Remy wasn't at school and Remy claimed that she hadn't felt well earlier. Frank then thought he smelled liquor on Remy's breath, but she
insisted that she hadn't been drinking.

Friday, November 21, 1997 (Episode #125)
Danielle remained unconscious in the emergency room as Karen called Scott to inform him of Danielle's accident. Scott then headed to the hospital. Jake rushed to the hospital and begged Ellen to give Danielle the best care possible. Jake also felt very guilty about the way he had ended things with Danielle. Later, an emotional Jake blasted Scott when he became worried about getting Danielle's statement and Jake accused Scott of using Danielle just like Rex had. Jake then confronted Rex when he arrived at the hospital feigning concern about Danielle. Danielle finally regained consciousness just moments before being wheeled off to surgery and she and Jake poignantly pledged their love for one another. Nicole told Bennett that she would never be able to forgive him. Julie didn't approve of what Bennett had done, but thought that Nicole should give Bennett another chance. Nicole then lashed out at both Bennett and Julie and stormed out. Later, Nicole and Chris ran into each other at the Recovery Room and ended up having dinner together.

Monday, November 24, 1997 (Episode #126)

The trauma team, including Ellen, Joe and Karen, worked valiantly to try and save Danielle. Danielle's vital signs began to stabilize and all were hopeful that she would pull through. Hope soon gave way to despair, however, as Danielle took a turn for the worse and suddenly died. Kevin tried to help a distraught Jake, who ended up punching Rex. Meanwhile, Conklin questioned Scott, who suggested that Conklin ought to be investigating Rex. Later, Scott found Danielle's panicky phone message. Kevin was adamant that Lucy not pursue her plan of trying to get closer to Rex. Jake decided to help Scott defeat Rex. Nicole invited Chris into her hotel room. Nicole hung up on Bennett when he telephoned her and Nicole told Chris that she had informed Bennett that she wanted a divorce. Chris comforted Nicole and she kissed him.

Tuesday, November 25, 1997 (Episode #127)
Scott and Jake learned that Serena's blood sample had been stolen and were dismayed that Rex had outsmarted them once again. Scott took the answering machine tape recording to Garcia and they could clearly hear the fear in Danielle's voice. Scott then deduced that if any foul play was involved in Danielle's death, then Rex would be the only suspect. Garcia questioned Rex, who fabricated a story of Jake's violent nature and told about how Jake had attacked him at the hospital. Garcia arrested Jake for aggravated assault but he was released a short time later. Scott and Jake then learned that there was no evidence of foul play in Danielle's death. Bennett tried to enter Nicole's room while she was with Chris. Nicole got rid of Bennett and she and Chris vowed to continue their affair with the utmost secrecy. Meanwhile, Mary told the interns that the holidays were a time for family to come together and support each other. Mary then convinced Julie to invite her parents to Thanksgiving dinner. Julie extended the invitation to Bennett and Nicole and they accepted. Karen and Joe reflected on their lives in the wake of Danielle's death. Karen comforted Jake and realized how deeply he had cared for Danielle.

Wednesday, November 26, 1997 (Episode #128)
Karen and Serena surprised Scott with an early morning visit. Meanwhile, Lucy and Kevin celebrated their fateful first meeting with Sigmund. In honor of Sigmund, Lucy decided that Thanksgiving dinner would be vegetarian. Lucy then continued to spoil Sigmund, but was unaware that the duck she was paying so much attention to wasn't Sigmund at all. Lucy and Kevin's guests arrived and everyone shared what they were thankful for. Lucy was shocked when the duck she thought was Sigmund layed an egg and thought that Sigmund was responsible for the rapid disappearance of her fertility potions. The duck ran off and everyone joined in to search for it. Lucy lead her guests on a wild goose chase and then found Sigmund at the duck pond. Lucy and Kevin realized that Sigmund now had new responsibilities because he had fathered a duckling. This discovery, however, also gave Lucy hope about having a baby with Kevin. Chris invited Nicole to his apartment to watch a movie. Eve left the apartment just moments before Nicole arrived and narrowly missed running into her. Nicole couldn't hide her anxiety and Chris assured her that he had just invited her over to watch the movie and had no ulterior motives. Nicole thanked Chris for being her friend and was surprised that Chris would be having Thanksgiving dinner at the Scanlons.

Thursday, November 27, 1997 (Episode #129)
Jake, who was still numb with grief over Danielle's death, volunteered to take Julie's shift at the hospital so that Julie could spend the holiday with Frank. The Scanlon family gathered their friends, including Mike, Karen, Chris, Julie, Matt, Grace, Bennett and Nicole, and hosted a Thanksgiving celebration with a decidedly Celtic twist. As the guests sat down to dinner, everyone shared what they were thankful for. Mike then touched everyone with his heartfelt words about Danielle and urged
everyone not to take their life and loved ones for granted. The festivities continued after dinner, complete with singing and dancing. Meanwhile, Jake treated a neighbor lady who had been taken to the hospital suffering from premature labor. Jake then managed to pull himself together and he handled the situation. Later, the interns surprised Ellen and Jake with Thanksgiving leftovers at the hospital.
