It was early evening at General
Hospital and the security guards were changing shifts. A security monitor
went black. One
guard said to the other, "Don't
worry. Nothing bad happens at General Hospital."
In the meantime, Chris Ramsey discussed
the reception for the new interns with his girlfriend, who revealed Chris'
"privileged"
background. EMT Frank Scanlon teased
his brother Joe about his attire for the interns' reception. Jake Marshak
phoned his
girlfriend Danielle from the hospital
and left a message saying he didn't want to do this without her. At the
hotel, Matt Harmon
talked to his mother on the phone
as he prepared for the reception at the hospital. Eve Lambert revealed
her "strong"
personality to one hotel employee.
Julie Morris arrived at the Port Charles Airport to find that her father
had sent a limo for her
-- something she didn't want. Karen
Wexler Cates met her childhood friend Joe Scanlon outside General Hospital
and he
helped her on with her necklace.
Karen and Joe then reminisced about playing together as children.
Because of the power failure, the
main elevators were not operating, which forced the interns to use the
patient elevator.
Arriving on the 6th floor, the interns
discovered that it was under construction and that the reception was a
scam. Greg Cooper
pulled a gun and began to taunt
the interns and uncover the secrets they were hiding.
Secretly, Joe paged Frank for help,
which only angered Greg who continued to insult and badger everyone. Frank
learned from Audrey Hardy that
there was no reception. Audrey and Chief Resident Dr. Faulk headed to the
6th floor. Audrey was
seriously injured and Dr. Faulk
was killed by Greg when they arrived. Realizing the seriousness of Audrey's
injuries, the interns
decided to act fast. Joe used a
drill to relieve the pressure on Audrey's brain. To distract Greg, Karen
agreed to strip for him.
At the same time, the interns overpowered
Greg and gained control.
Meanwhile, Lucy was at her doctor's
office and found out that she is pregnant. On her way to tell Kevin the
"good" news, Lucy was in the
elevator at the hospital as the lights flickered and the power failed.
She screamed and hoped someone would hear.
Upon hearing Lucy's cries for help,
Greg fired the gun at the elevator. Lucy escaped Greg's gun fire by climbing
on top of the
elevator. Then, the elevator plummeted
and Lucy was left hanging on for dear life.
During Kevin's session with Gail,
they discussed Lucy's disappointment over Scotty cancelling Serena's visit
because of Kevin.
Later, Gail called Kevin to tell
him about the hostage situation and that Lucy was stuck in the elevator.
Kevin headed for
General Hospital. Kevin and Frank
found Lucy and moved her to a more stable place in the elevator shaft.
Frank went into the
elevator to try to fix it and rescue
the hostages. Still in the elevator shaft, Kevin and Lucy hung on to a
ladder as Kevin tried to
hot-wire the elevator. Lucy fainted
and began to slip from Kevin's grasp. Lucy regained consciousness before
falling as Kevin
restored the power. Finally, Frank
and the SWAT team burst onto the 6th floor and rescued the hostages.
In Ontario, Scotty, who had been
making a living building furniture, visited Serena at school. Scotty left
Serena at the after
school program and, as he drove
away, a mysterious car pulled up. Scotty returned to pick-up Serena and
learned that she had been kidnapped
by people in a car with NY license plates. Thinking Lucy and Kevin kidnapped
Serena, Scotty chartered a
plane and headed for Port Charles.
Rushing to find Lucy and Serena, Scotty had a brief encounter with Lee
at the airport and
promised that he and Serena would
stay with him and Gail.
Lucy was taken in for questioning
about Serena's disappearance and arrested. Mac tried to help but was unsuccessful.
Scotty
barged in and confronted Lucy about
Serena's whereabouts.
Alan and Monica apologized to the
interns and offered counseling. Alan criticized Joe for treating Audrey
and informed him that he would
have to appear in front of the hospital review board. Joe vowed to let
nothing get in the way of his dream to become
a doctor.
Monday, June 2, 1997 (Daytime Debut)
(Episode #1)
Scotty continued to badger Lucy
about Serena's whereabouts. Lucy tried to convince everyone that she had
nothing to do with
Serena's disappearance and Kevin
and Mac defended her. Scotty pleaded with Lucy by using Serena's blanket
and stuffed
animal and telling her that they
had never spent a night apart. Lee called Scotty to tell him his daughter
was there and Scotty
rushed out. After giving a statement
to the police, Joe offered Karen a ride, which she declined. Frank comments
about
Karen's toughness and Joe remembered
when they were children and he helped a scared Karen. Joe arrived home
and found
Alan Quartermaine waiting for him.
Gail and Lee were relieved that Karen was safe. Karen accused Lee of pulling
strings so
she would get the internship at
General Hospital. Karen explained what happened while being held hostage
and that she planed
to return to San Francisco. Karen
left a message for Jagger that she really needed to talk to him. Lee asked
Karen to stay in
Port Charles with her family. Lee
then told Karen that her father is back in town. Scotty arrived and was
devastated when he
found Karen and not Serena. Scotty
apologized to Karen for his reaction and revealed that Serena was missing.
As Scotty
rushed back to the police station,
he was hit by a car.
Tuesday, June 3, 1997 (Episode #2)
Alan explained to Joe that his treating
Audrey during the hostage crisis had been out of bounds and in the future,
Joe should
listen to people with more experience.
Joe angrily protested that Audrey would have died. Frank entered and told
them that
Audrey was out of surgery. After
Alan left, Joe evaded Franks questions and said that he didn't want his
big brother to fix
things. Frank's beeper went off
and they both left for the hospital. Lucy who was still being held for
questioning, finally told the
agents about her doctor's appointment.
Lucy then told Kevin that she is pregnant. Lucy told Kevin that she wanted
him to find
out differently but Kevin assured
Lucy that he is happy and they imagined what their children would be like.
Karen looked after an injured
Scotty. Scotty apologized to Karen and told her that he wanted to get to
know her. Joe and Frank arrived. In the
ambulance, Karen revealed that Scott
is her father. At the hospital, Joe tried to reassure Karen that Scotty
would be all right.
Karen said she wanted to leave Port
Charles. Alan asked Ellen Burgess to take over as Chief Resident and told
her Karen and
Joe were two new residents. Frank
overheard Alan as he told Ellen about Joe's suspension.
Wednesday, June 4, 1997 (Episode
#3)
Chris lied to impress his date that
he was the hero who subdued Cooper. Chris left the room to get more champagne
and
returned to found her snooping through
Julie's file. She questioned his motives and he told her it was not any
of her business and asked her
to leave. Unaffected, Chris raised his glass in a private toast to Julie.
At the same time, Julie experienced a nightmare
in which she was a young girl walking
down a long corridor looking for "Buddy." In her nightmare, Julie opened
a door,
screamed and heard gun shots which
brought her dream into the present where she came face to face with Cooper.
Joe tried to persuade Karen to
stay until her father is out of danger. Karen said it was weird to think
of Scotty as her father. After Dr.
Burgess told Frank about Joe's suspension,
Joe confirmed that he has to face the review board. Frank suggested that
Joe get
Dr. Burgess on his side because
she is going to be the new Chief Resident. This caused a conflict again
as Joe did not want
Frank's help. Joe and Karen discussed
their alcoholic parents and how they would never be the same because of
Cooper.
Lucy learned of Scott's accident.
Mac confirmed that Serena is missing and he wasn't informed because he
was removed as
Police Commissioner. Lucy and Kevin
headed for General Hospital. Lucy sat by Scotty's bedside and remembered
the day
Serena was born and promised Scotty
that they will find Serena. Meanwhile, Karen filled Kevin in on Scotty's
condition and
told him that she was the daughter
Lee referred to when he called Scotty. Kevin explained that Scotty thought
Lucy and Kevin
kidnapped Serena. Later, Joe returned
and asked Karen if she had decided to stay. Burgess entered and gave Karen
a notice
to testify at Joe's hearing.
Thursday, June 5, 1997 (Episode #4)
While Frank was posting the apartment
for rent, Julie entered the on-call room wearing only a towel and a distracted
Frank
stuck himself with the tack. Jake
and Chris received letters calling them to testify at Joe's hearing. Eve
entered and noted that
Chris seemed pleased that Joe may
lose his internship. Karen told Joe that she was not leaving Port Charles
yet and she would
help him find a lawyer. Karen expressed
her frustration towards Alan's treatment of Joe and was sorry Joe was not
attending
the interns' orientation. Later,
the interns discussed the review board and finding places to live. Meanwhile,
Lucy panicked
because there were no new leads
on Serena's kidnapping. Mac wondered if Scotty's accident was connected
to Serena's
disappearance. Kevin and Lucy told
Mac that Lucy is pregnant, and how happy they are about the baby and the
possibility of
Kevin's father recovering. Back
at the hospital, Scotty had a nightmare about not being able to find Serena.
Scotty then tricked
Eve into helping him leave the hospital.
Arriving at Lucy's, Scotty collapsed in her arms.
Friday, June 6,1997 (Episode #5)
On his way to orientation Jake's
landlord gave him a returned letter from Danielle. Dr. Burgess began to
call roll when Joe
entered and said that his name was
left off the list. He continued to tell Dr. Burgess that according to hospital
guidelines, he was allowed and
would continue to keep up with the classes until his hearing. After support
from the others, Joe was allowed to
stay. Jake was late and Dr. Burgess
reprimanded him and told the interns that mistakes would not be accepted.
Grace entered
and told Dr. Burgess that Scotty
had left. Julie revealed that Eve is the one who helped Scott leave the
hospital. Karen
mentioned that Scott was probably
at Kevin's. Matt expressed that he was having problems finding a suitable
apartment. When she was leaving
the hospital, Eve got Kevin's address from the hospital directory and headed
there. Karen met with Lee and
asked him to help Joe. As he was
leaving, Joe answered a call from Karen's husband. Jake returned home and
found Danielle
there. Meanwhile, Lucy explained
to Scotty that she did not have Serena and that he heard Serena's voice
from a tape. Lucy
explained to Scotty that she is
pregnant and Scotty agreed that Lucy would never harm Serena. Lucy promised
to help find
Serena. Scotty's frustration and
pain caused him to yell at Lucy. Then, Kevin entered and told Scott not
to use that tone in his
house and refused to treat Scotty.
Lucy then made Scott lay down and rest while she and Kevin went outside
to talk. An angry
Eve then entered the lighthouse.
In a small house Serena told her stuffed animals that her daddy will come
for her soon.
Monday, June 9, 1997 (Episode #6)
Joe and Frank's mother, Mary, dropped
by. Frank reminded her that she cannot drop by unannounced. Julie arrived
and Mary found out that Julie
was there to look at the basement apartment. Frank and Julie discovered
their mutual love for the Chicago
Cubs. Julie became anxious over
the possibility that Frank was familiar with Chicago. At the lighthouse,
an angry Eve asked
Scotty to sign the release form.
She told him that he humiliated her and she didn't care what happened to
him. Scotty agreed to
sign the release only if Eve would
help him find Serena. After watching a video tape of Serena, Eve agreed
to help Scotty.
Meanwhile, Jake asked Danielle why
she left him. Danielle explained that she disappeared because she got a
job in a
commercial. Jake didn't believe
her and demanded the truth. Danielle then told Jake she left to figure
things out and discovered
she had fallen in love with him.
Danielle then told him she was staying in Port Charles. At the same time,
Serena asked an
unseen person when her Daddy was
coming for her.
Tuesday, June 10, 1997 (Episode #7)
Lucy prayed to Dominique for help
in finding Serena. Kevin arrived and asked Lucy to marry him. He proclaimed
that Lucy
was his light in his darkest hour
and how happy he was that they are going to have a baby. Lucy said yes
and they agreed not
to tell anyone until Serena was
safe. Bursting with happiness, Lucy had to tell someone. Sigmund came waddling
over and Lucy told him and he
quacked his congratulations. Meanwhile inside, Eve warned Scotty that no
one could know about their
arrangement. As Eve was leaving,
she ran into Karen. Karen mentioned that she shouldn't have come. Scotty
asked Karen to
forget that she saw Eve. Karen then
asked Scotty to help Joe find an affordable lawyer and Scotty agreed. After
some
prodding from Scotty, Karen told
him about what happened during the hostage situation and also mentioned
how Lee had
pulled strings to get her the internship
at GH. Scotty agreed that Lee sometimes drives him crazy. Karen said she
hoped Serena would be found soon
and that she was looking forward to meeting her. Meanwhile, Mary planned
a surprise toast for Joe. Joe
told his mother the truth about
his suspension and Mary then left an indignant message for Alan. The three
then left Joe to give
him some time alone. Karen arrived
and told Joe that Scott had agreed to find help for Joe. Joe asked Karen
if she received
Jagger's message, but she evaded
any further questions. Later, Mary introduced Mike Corbin to Frank. Matt,
Julie, Chris and
Eve discussed why they wanted to
become doctors. Matt decided after his accident. Julie knew from the first
grade. Chris
commented on the salary potential.
Eve joked about becoming a waitress.
Wednesday, June 11, 1997 (Episode
#8)
The interns began the tradition
of putting a dollar in a bedpan when they survived a week. The one chosen
as the next Chief
Resident wins and must treat the
others. An unpleased Julie observed Chris needling Joe about his suspension.
Jake introduced
Danielle to Chris, Eve and Julie.
They were surprised at her appearance. Jake was irritated when Danielle
told him about her
night job. Joe complimented Matt
on his medical skills. Matt told Joe that he intended to tell the review
board that Audrey's
surgery was a group activity. Grace
took the traditional first day picture as the interns got their assignments
from Burgess
except Joe. Matt drew the difficult
assignment of handling a drunk who mocked and kicked Matt's wheelchair
away. A
frustrated Joe couldn't help. Also,
Karen and Jagger decided, over the phone, that Karen would take the internship.
Karen
assured Rhonda that everything was
fine between her and Jagger. Karen then told Rhonda that eventually she
would be getting
her own apartment. The two then
shared a special moment as Karen prepared for her first day of interning.
Kevin and Lucy
were elated when their baby received
a clean bill of health. Lucy then persuaded Kevin to let her visit Victor
by telling him she
wanted their family intact. Lucy
tried to get through to Victor using small talk, but when that didn't work,
Lucy told Victor that
she and Kevin are expecting a baby.
Victor was still unresponsive -- until they were leaving. Victor offered
his congratulations
then immediately focused back on
the television.
Thursday, June 12, 1997 (Episode
#9)
Burgess wondered where Eve was.
Frank guided Julie in starting an IV. Julie accepted Frank's invitation
for dinner. Burgess
ordered Chris and Jake to help Matt
with the drunk patient. Matt was determined to complete the examination.
He prevented
them from helping. Matt succeeded
but an angry Burgess confronted Matt about endangering his patient. Matt
then claimed
Burgess only sees his wheelchair
and not his capability as a doctor. Matt stated that he did not want any
special treatment.
Frank questioned Joe for being at
the hospital. In a heated discussion that moved to the supply closet, Joe
told Frank to mind
his own business. Karen almost caught
Chris changing the schedule, which meant that Julie was no longer free
and has to cancel her date with
Frank. Burgess found out that Eve left the hospital. Julie unsuccessfully
tried to cover up for Eve. Joe offered Eve
the basement apartment not knowing
Frank already promised it to Julie. Meanwhile at the lighthouse, Eve treated
Scotty. She
asked about Serena and he shared
his frustration about the investigation's slow pace. Lucy entered. Eve
wrapped her arms
around Scotty and kissed him. Lucy
apologized for interrupting -- sarcastically. After Eve left, Lucy asked
Scotty what was
going on. Scotty explained that
Eve was only a friend. Mac arrived with the some news. The car that hit
Scotty was used by the same people
who picked up Serena. After Mac left, Lucy and Scotty shared some special
moments about Serena and
Dominique. Scotty answered the phone
and heard Serena's voice.
Friday, June 13, 1997 (Episode #10)
Lucy realized Scotty was talking
to Serena. Scotty tried to remain calm so he could find out if she was
all right but they were
disconnected and Scotty freaked
out. The FBI traced the call to the east side of Port Charles. Kevin told
Scotty that it was
good news the kidnappers contacted
him because it meant that they only wanted money. Scotty repeatedly listened
to the tape
of Serena's call and Scotty could
tell by Serena's voice that she was fine. Then, Detective Conklin brought
in a letter from the
kidnappers. Meanwhile, Danielle
told Rex that was time to give Serena back. At the hospital, Chris caught
Eve breaking into
his locker. Eve explained that she
was looking for the files that Cooper had on them. Eve pointed out that
Cooper revealed
everyone's secrets except for Julie.
Eve suspected there was something in Julie's file that made her a target
for Chris affections.
Chris played dumb but Eve saw right
through him. While Danielle visited Jake at the hospital, Eve insulted
her which upset
Jake. Also, Jake had questions about
Danielle's night job and she refused his offer to get her a job at the
hospital. Eve headed
to move into her new apartment at
the Scanlons'. At the same time, Frank helped Julie move in. Frank asked
Julie if she wanted to call her
family. She lied and said they were on vacation. Frank told Julie he had
started med school but gave it up when his
father became ill. As Julie lied
Frank about her family, Eve entered and asked what they were doing in her
apartment.
Monday, June 16, 1997 (Episode #11)
Rex assured Danielle that neither
Jake nor Serena would get hurt by their plan and promised everything would
be over soon.
Danielle looked at the photo of
Dominique they had used to lure Serena and wondered if they would have
been friends. Rex
asked Danielle if she was ready
to make the call. Meanwhile, Lucy & Scotty read the kidnapper's note
in which they
demanded five million dollars by
June 27th for Serena's return. Scotty didn't want to wait and questioned
what the proof would
be that Serena was safe. Kevin tried
to calm Scotty down and offered his help. Lucy privately apologized to
Kevin for keeping
their engagement a secret. Scotty
planned to get Serena back his way and Lucy agreed to help. Eve and Julie
fought over the
Scanlons' basement apartment. They
traded insults and threatened to move in while the other was on duty. Julie
wondered why
Eve was paranoid. While racing to
write the rent check, Eve realized she didn't have enough money. Eve then
suggested that
she and Julie share the apartment.
Not wanting to tell Eve that she could afford the rent and didn't need
a roommate, Julie
agreed. In the Scanlons' kitchen,
Joe tried to sing Frank's praises to Julie. Frank told Julie how proud
he was of Joe especially
since he struggled paying for med
school similarly to Julie. Julie became uncomfortable but didn't correct
him. At the hospital,
Joe caught Jake looking at a magazine
and was surprised that he was reading about medical procedures. After Jake
left,
Burgess caught Joe reading Jake's
magazine and reprimanded him for slacking on the job. Joe didn't correct
her and left.
Danielle entered the on-call room
looking for Jake. Burgess told Danielle that the area was for staff only.
As she was leaving,
Danielle left a love note on the
board for Jake.
Tuesday, June 17, 1997 (Episode #12)
Lucy tried to convince Scotty that
Kevin could help them. Scotty disagreed and told Lucy that she didn't have
to go through
with the plan because it could be
risky. Lucy agreed not to tell Kevin. At the same time, Kevin entered and
asked what was
going on. Lucy and Scotty covered
by using the Nurse's Ball as an excuse. Karen arrived to ask Scotty about
someone to
represent Joe. Scotty told her that
he didn't have time to think about it. Karen abruptly apologized and left.
Scotty was
frustrated because he was unable
to help Karen. Kevin explained that Karen might feel that Joe's hearing
had as much to do
with her as it did with Joe. Kevin
left and Lucy reminded Scotty that he has two daughters. Lucy left for
the hospital to give
another blood sample. When Lucy
arrived at the lab, she heard a tape of Serena singing. The kidnapper approached
Lucy from behind demanding her
not to make a sound. As all the interns gathered for Joe's hearing, Julie
and Jake agreed that Joe
shouldn't be the only one facing
the review board. On the other hand, Chris and Eve were clear they would
testify that they
were not involved. Mary arrived
and was upset she wasn't informed about the hearing beginning today. Frank
told her it had
been moved up and advised Joe to
keep his cool. Alan, Monica, and Tony entered and the hearing began. Tony
explained that
Audrey would have died if some action
had not been taken but the use of an electric drill was excessive. Joe
insisted that he
didn't have a choice. Alan told
Joe that he would have a chance to speak. Tony then admitted that he was
in a similar situation
when he operated on Audrey and the
computers crashed. It was brought up that Tony had been an experienced
surgeon and
not an intern. Chris began to testify
that Joe overreacted because there had been a gun pointed at him. Chris
also said that
Cooper had been manipulating the
situation and suggested the surgery. Karen came to Joe's defense and explained
that they
had no choice. The other interns,
except for Chris and Eve, testified that Joe did not act alone and that
they had assisted him.
Alan saluted their unity, but claimed
it made the board's decision more complicated. At this moment, Scott arrived
at the
hearing.
Wednesday, June 18, 1997 (Episode
#13)
In the hospital lab, Lucy resisted
Rex's grip slightly and asked what he wanted. Without revealing his identity,
Rex explained
that the ransom note had been sent
in order to throw the FBI off the track and insisted Lucy and Scotty play
by a different set
of rules. Rex said that the ransom
drop would happen at the Nurses' Ball and warned her that no one was to
know about this
plan. Lucy agreed but demanded proof
that Serena is alive. Rex said he would give them proof tomorrow. Later,
Lucy talked
to Kevin, but didn't tell him about
her encounter with Rex when he asked what was wrong. Kevin then told Lucy
that he could
not have picked a better partner
and they would get through anything.
At Joe's hearing, Scotty explained
that he was acting as Joe's attorney. Then Scotty continued to point out
that the hostage
situation was similar to combat
conditions which would change the way any normal emergency room functioned.
Scotty then
expressed that the interns' lives
were in danger and there had been no guidance from experienced doctors.
Mary surprised the
group when she wheeled Audrey into
the hearing and Audrey thanked Joe for saving her life. Joe explained what
happened and said that he would
do it again in order to save a life. The hearing ended and the board members
were ready to make a decision. Not
long after that, Alan informed Joe that his internship would not be terminated.
Meanwhile, Danielle put on her disguise
when she brought Serena lunch and began reading "Charlotte's Web". Serena
then commented on that being
her favorite story and asked when her Daddy was coming. Danielle told her
soon. After leaving Serena, Danielle
ripped off her disguise and cried. Rex assured Danielle that Serena would
be back with her father soon.
Thursday, June 19, 1997 (Episode
#14)
Lucy and Scotty discussed the plan
for the ransom drop. Scotty commented about being fortunate enough to have
five million
dollars for the ransom and 5 million
for the decoy. the money for both plans. Lucy and Scotty argued about telling
Kevin the
truth then decided that for Serena's
sake Kevin couldn't find out. An impatient Scotty suggested that Lucy return
to the
pathology lab to look for more clues.
Kevin arrived with a note the kidnappers sent to Lucy which was a photo
of Serena
holding a current newspaper. Because
of her condition, Kevin suggested Lucy not participate in this year's Nurses'
Ball, but
Lucy insisted she had to especially
for Stone and Jon Hanley. Scotty changed the subject and Kevin noticed
Lucy and Scotty's
silent communications. Evading other
questions, Lucy headed to the hospital. Later, as Scotty was showing Detective
Conklin
the ransom money, Scotty asked why
Kevin was hanging around. Kevin said that he had nothing to do until the
Nurses' Ball.
Meanwhile, Danielle told Rex that
it was getting tougher to keep Serena occupied. Rex told Danielle to stop
worrying because
everything would be over tonight.
He also expressed his concern over her involvement with Jake. Danielle
told Rex that she had fallen
for Jake and planned to stay in Port Charles. Rex then handed Danielle
a small card and assured her everything would
work out. Jake told Chris that he
was annoyed because of Chris' testimony against Joe and his interpretation
of what happened. Joe arrived with flowers for Karen and Chris questioned
Joe's intentions. Chris commented that Joe used Karen's connections to
get him off. Joe replied by telling Chris that they should stay out of
each other's way. Joe and Chris began to fight when Alan walked in. Alan
invited the interns to the Nurses' Ball and mentioned that he was impressed
by how some of the interns had showed their solidarity. Danielle arrived
and Jake invited her to the Nurses' Ball but she covered by telling him
that she wouldn't be able to join him because she volunteered to work backstage.
Jake was puzzled. Lucy ran into Burgess in the pathology lab. Lucy tried
to explain that she was meeting a friend there to discuss the Nurses' Ball
but Burgess kicked her out. At the nurses' station, Burgess reamed Chris
out for not delivering lab results. Lucy waited for Burgess to leave and
went back into the lab. Lucy fought with a lab technician, an unseen Danielle
dropped a clue where the next meeting would take place. On her way out
Lucy found the holy card with Serena's name on it.
Friday, June 20, 1997 (Episode #15)
Lucy was appalled that Rex chose
to meet in a church. They discussed the plan for the ransom drop at the
Nurses' Ball and
Rex agreed to give Serena back after
the drop. Meanwhile, Scotty didn't want to talk to Kevin about the kidnappers'
motives.
Kevin suspected something was up.
Scotty said that he had asked Kevin to back off because he didn't like
owing any one.
Lucy entered and sent Kevin to look
for her lucky charm so she could talk to Scotty alone. Lucy told Scotty
about he plan and
then mentioned that she didn't think
she could go through with it. Later when Lucy was at the hotel, she fantasized
about her
reunion with Serena and said to
herself that she would do anything to get Serena back. While Julie was
taking a shower, Frank
caught Eve snooping through Julie's
purse. A startled Eve told Frank that she did not want him to enter her
apartment
unannounced. Julie entered and told
Frank that she didn't need him to fix the shower after all. Julie said
that she would be ready in a
few minutes. As soon as Frank left, Eve teased Julie about her date. Later,
Frank returned to tell Eve to stay out of Julie's
business. In the on-call room, Joe
gave Karen flowers and thanked her for helping him. Joe then told her how
happy he was
and that he owed it all to her.
As they discussed how they love their work, Gina entered. After Joe left,
Gina asked Karen what was going
on with her and Jagger. Karen went on to say that she still wanted to be
married to Jagger and he had supported her decision
to take the internship. Karen and Gina agreed to go to the Nurses' Ball
together. Joe overheard part of their
conversation and replayed it in
his mind.
Monday, June 23 , 1997 (Episode #16)
Eve's financial situation continues
to deteriorate. Embarrassed at being caught in a rare, unguarded moment,
Ellen snaps at Matt for intruding
on her privacy. Storming out of the Nurses' Ball, Eve complains to Matt
about the way the rest of the interns have
mistreated her since Joe's hearing.
Waiting nervously for word from Lucy, Scotty wonders if his daughter will
be the same
sweet, trusting little girl once
she's released by her kidnappers. Meanwhile, backstage at the Nurses' Ball,
a jittery Lucy tries to
gather up her courage in anticipation
of making the ransom drop. As Rex electronically eavesdrops on his intended
victims,
Danielle steels herself for the
next dreaded task at hand. Watching Lucy throw a tantrum in the dressing
room, Kevin explains
to an astonished Don that their
hostess for the evening is at the mercy of her raging hormones. Eve accuses
Scotty of making up a pathetic
sob story about his missing child in order to con her into treating him
on the sly. When the attorney displays a valise
full of cash, however, Eve realizes
she's been too harsh on him and apologizes to Scotty for her insensitivity.
Pretending to
disapprove of one of her gowns,
Lucy tosses the dress into a wastebasket. Later, disguised as a maintenance
worker, Danielle
retrieves the gem-studded gown and
carries it back to Rex for his inspection.
Tuesday, June 24, 1997 (Episode #17)
Julie thanks Frank for a wonderful
evening as they return to the house. Confiding that she really isn't ready
for the night to end,
Julie coaxes her landlord into giving
her an impromptu basketball lesson. After making a bet on the outcome,
Frank realizes he's been hustled
when Julie turns out to be a fierce competitor. Matt teases Jake about
an imminent marriage proposal after finding
his fellow intern reading a brochure
about diamonds. Rex reminds Danielle that their scheme is necessary to
right a wrong done
to her long ago. Scotty gives his
FBI escort the slip and sneaks away from the lighthouse. As the Nurses'
Ball winds up, Kevin
tries to convince his pregnant girlfriend
to come home. When a jittery Lucy makes excuses to stick around, Kevin
guesses that
she's waiting for the kidnappers
to deliver Serena. Frank tells Julie how an injury during a college football
game changed the
course of his career path. Jake
admits to Matt he's been thinking about popping the question ever since
the first moment he laid
eyes on Danielle. Apologizing for
having to lie, Lucy explains to Kevin and the FBI agents how the kidnapper
arranged for her
to make the drop by sewing five
million dollars worth of diamonds into the dress she supposedly discarded.
Later, following a
brainstorm by Kevin, Scotty is happily
reunited with Serena.
Wednesday, June 25, 1997 (Episode
#18)
Karen rushes to share her good news
with Joe after learning that her father has found Serena. Meanwhile, at
the lighthouse, an
excited Lucy waits for her first
chance to get to know Dominique's daughter. Scotty assures Serena that
now that her ordeal is
truly over they will never be separated
again. When he gently presses her for details about her abductors, Serena
explains to
her father that she only saw one
lady who treated her very nicely. As she rushes around preparing a big
breakfast for the
Baldwins, Lucy confides to Kevin
how worried she is that Serena won't like her. Later, Scotty introduces
his daughter to Lucy, who tells
the child how she used to be great pals with her mom and dad. When Joe
discloses that he overheard part of her
conversation with Gina, Karen claims
that Jagger is in the middle of an important investigation which prevents
him from coming
to Port Charles. Julie invites Frank
to join her at a party the interns are throwing to celebrate their first
official paychecks.
Scotty offers Lucy and Kevin his
sincere gratitude for all their help during one of the darkest periods
of his life. Later, Scotty
fears the worst when Serena adamantly
refuses to let a doctor examine her.

#19)
Eve breaks into Chris' place to
sneak a peek at her roommate's file. Mike contemplates making an offer
on a bar near the
hospital. Scotty fears that Serena's
uncharacteristic behavior may mean she was molested by her captors. Matt
has difficulty
finding an apartment which can accommodate
his wheelchair. Hired by the PCPD as a private consultant on the kidnapping
case, Mac offers to interview Serena
but Scotty balks at letting his daughter be further traumatized by yet
another stranger.
Later, acting on Lucy's suggestion,
Scotty asks Karen to handle Serena's examination herself. When Chris catches
her
snooping and threatens to turn her
in, Eve advises him not to alienate a potential ally. Reporting that Frank
and Julie are moving
closer together by the hour, Eve
hints that she might be in a position to help Chris score some badly needed
points with the
object of his desire. Mike offers
to let Matt have the wheelchair accessible apartment above the bar in exchange
for keeping an eye on the place
during the overnight hours. Scotty introduces Serena to her big sister.
Excited to learn that Karen is a doctor in training,
Serena readily agrees to play "patient". Afterwards, Scotty and Lucy breathe
a sigh of relief when Karen quietly
assures them that Serena was not
sexually abused.

Mary and the interns help Mike celebrate
his purchase of the Recovery Room. As the "paycheck party" gets into full
swing,
Frank lifts his glass to toast his
friends for completing their first official week of doctoring. Meanwhile,
across the street in the
ER, Chris refuses to give up on
a patient despite Ellen's instructions to call the code. Scotty tries to
explain to Serena why he's
mad at the "nice" woman who took
her away. Danielle tells Rex she can no longer be a part of his scheme.
Insisting that she
doesn't want to risk messing up
her relationship with Jake, Danielle offers Rex the bulk of her share of
their five million dollar
payoff. Lucy beams when a giggling
Serena confides to Scotty how much she likes his funny friend. Chris stubbornly
continues
to do CPR on his patient until Grace
finally convinces him the dead man is beyond help. Later, Ellen gives the
grieving widow
the bad news and asks the woman
for permission to harvest her husband's healthy organs. At the Recovery
Room, Eve snipes
about Julie to Joe while the rest
of the interns discuss their ongoing battle of wills with the icy Dr. Burgess.
Danielle threatens to
squeal on Rex if he attempts to
hurt Serena or tries to extort any more money from Scotty. Lucy shares
a secret with Serena.
Lee and Gail are thrilled to meet
their youngest granddaughter for the first time.
Monday, June 30, 1997 (Episode #21)
Despite Scott's fears, Lucy tried
to get closer to Serena. Julie realized that Chris was taking the loss
of his patient hard. Despite Frank's
protests, Julie followed Chris back to his apartment and offered him a
sympathetic ear. Meanwhile, Eve was burdened
with unpaid bills and Mary reminded
her that rent was due as well. A financially strapped Eve asked Scott to
intercede with
Ellen on her behalf. When Scott
left the room to check on Serena, Eve noticed the bag of unused ransom
money. One of the
bundles of cash accidentally fell
into Eve's tote bag and not wanting to tempt fate, Eve then quickly left
with the cash. Rex spent an evening
with Jake and Danielle in order to let Danielle know that he could destroy
her relationship with Jake at any time. Rex also
warned Danielle that he didn't take "no" for an answer. Matt thought that
Ellen's appearance at the Recovery Room was
more than just a coincidence. Matt
suspected that Ellen was worried about Chris' reaction to losing his patient,
but Ellen
denied.
