1, 1997 (Episode #22)
Lucy gingerly
suggested to Scott that he loosen his reins on Serena and feared that they
had become too dependent on one
another. Lucy
questioned Scott about Eve and Scott explained how Eve had helped him.
Meanwhile, Eve tried to deal with the
consequences
of her theft of Scott's money, and tried to figure out how to return it.
Frank confiscated some of the money from
Eve as payment
for rent. Later, Scott surprised Eve with a visit. Julie helped Chris deal
with the loss of the young patient. Julie
revealed that
losing a patient was her worst fear and Chris admitted that he had felt
helpless. After he had bonded with Julie,
Chris regretted
stealing her file. Frank and Julie later met at the ER and he realized
that she had been with Chris. Frank and
Julie were
interrupted when a panicked mother ran into the emergency room with her
young child. Meanwhile, Rex showed
Danielle proof
that she and Jake would take the fall for Serena's kidnapping unless she
played by his rules. Rex also revealed to Danielle
that he was the one who had driven the rental car that had run over Scott
and that he had evidence that would make
her the chief
suspect.
Wednesday,
July 2, 1997 (Episode #23)
Lucy complained
to Kevin that Scott had been keeping Serena too isolated. Kevin agreed
with Lucy, but urged her not to get
involved.
Scott insisted on paying Eve for her help and she accepted payment in cash
and asked to return to the lighthouse with
him. Eve lied
about why she wanted to go back to the lighthouse and managed to return
the money she had taken from the
ransom bag.
Scott felt betrayed by Lucy after he had learned that she had invited Gail
and Lee to see Serena. Scott learned
from the federal
agents that the ransom money had been marked. To Frank's chagrin, Chris
performed brilliantly in the
emergency
room and correctly diagnosed the child's problems. Chris and Julie treated
the child, who was soon on his way to
recovery.
Mary sensed that Frank had felt left out of Julie and Chris's success and
invited Julie to poker night as a way to fix
things. Later,
Mary gave Mike one of the marked bills that Frank had taken from Eve for
rent. With Rex having her set up in
every possible
way, Danielle realized that she and Jake had to cooperate with him. Later,
Rex met with Lucy under the guise of a
business appointment.
Thursday, July
3, 1997 (Episode #24)
Lee accused
Scott of running away from the people who loved him. Gail learned that
Kevin and Lucy were expecting a child.
Kevin told
Gail that he feared that the kidnapping ordeal with Serena was not over.
Using an assumed name, Rex met with
Lucy at the
airport and then later opened up his mansion in town. Joe and Karen were
not able to make the Scanlon poker
party because
they delivered a baby together. To avoid snagging her glove, Karen removed
her wedding ring. Later, Joe
noticed that
Karen was not wearing her ring when they hugged. Meanwhile at the poker
party, Mike cashed one of Eve's
hundred dollar
bills for Mary and planned to put it in the bank. Frank and Julie shared
their first kiss. Rhonda told Mary that
she had private
fears about Karen and Jagger's marriage.
Friday, July
4, 1997 (Episode #25)
Scott said
goodbye to Eve, who told a patient about a "rich guy" she was starting
to like. Scott also told Karen that he was
leaving Port
Charles and gave her a gift with his phone number and address. After intercepting
a call for Scott, Lucy realized
that he planned
to take Serena back to Canada soon. A heartbroken Lucy told Kevin that
she could not go back to a life
without Serena
and then interfered with Scott's plans. Joe and Karen shared a warm moment
in the on-call room. Mary told
Joe that Rhonda
thought that Karen's marriage to Jagger was in trouble. Joe noticed that
Karen was still not wearing her
wedding ring
and tried to comfort her when she cried about Scott's imminent departure
from Port Charles. Mike relented to
Matt's demand
to move into the unfurnished apartment in the back of the Recovery Room
eventhough the repairs were not yet
completed.
Later, Mike and Mary were arrested for passing stolen currency.
Monday, July
7, 1997 (Episode #26)
Lucy was set
to confront Scott about his intention to leave Port Charles, but he was
called away to the police department.
Scott learned
that someone had been passing the stolen ransom money. Mary was mortified
when Frank and Joe rescued her
at the police
station. Mary reluctantly told Scott that Frank had given her the stolen
money and Scott deduced that it was Eve
who was responsible
for the theft. Meanwhile, Lucy took Serena to the park with Lee and also
arranged to meet Rex. Lucy
told Lee that
it was selfish for Scott to take Serena away, but Lee thought it would
be too painful for Scott to stay in Port
Charles. Rex
called Danielle and told her to come to the park to begin "Act Two." Serena
ran into Danielle at the park and was petrified
that Serena would recognize her. Karen railed at Eve for not relying Jagger's
message, but later apologized and
explained
her martial situation. Karen and Eve continued to talk and reached a level
of respect. Karen was glad, and Ellen was
impressed,
when Eve correctly diagnosed a patient with suspect symptoms. Eve's joy
was quickly deflated when Scott had her
arrested in
the Emergency Room.
Tuesday, July
8, 1997 (Episode #27)
Scott confronted
Eve about her theft of the ransom money. Eve admitted taking the money,
but only after she knew that Serena was
safe. Eve explained how the money had accidentally fell into her bag. Scott
feigned anger to make Eve squirm, and she
wished she
had never met him. Eve was surprised, but not grateful, when Scott did
not press charges. Mac learned the ransom
diamonds were
being fenced in Hong Kong. Mac agreed with Kevin when he voiced his fears
that the kidnappers were not
finished with
Serena. Kevin did not want to tell Scott because he was afraid that Scott
would leave town with Serena and cut
off contact
with Lucy. Kevin also expressed his dislike for Scott's treatment of Lucy
and how Scott had disrupted their lives.
After her
ordeal with Scott, Eve returned home to find she had been evicted from
the Scanlons' basement. Meanwhile, Serena
did not recognize
Danielle in the park. Rex met with Lucy and mixed business with pleasure
by giving Serena some attention.
Later, Scott
was upset after Lucy disrupted his plans to leave town and had disobeyed
his request not to take Serena to the
park. Scott
then made it clear to Lucy that he was leaving Port Charles with Serena.
Wednesday,
July 9, 1997 (Episode #28)
Lucy and Scott
argued over his plans to leave Port Charles with Serena. A desperate Lucy
finally had Scott watch a videotape
of Dominique
that was made before Serena was born. Scott was moved when he watched Dominique's
message to her unborn child.
Frank tried to evict Eve and blamed her for Mary's ordeal with the police
over the stolen ransom money. Eve told Frank
that Scott
had dropped the charges and that Frank had to take her to court to evict
her. Julie intervened and stood up for Eve
and convinced
Frank to give Eve another chance, but he wondered why Julie was sticking
up for Eve. Guilty over not telling
Frank the
truth about her wealthy family, Julie told Frank that at least Eve was
not misrepresenting herself and also mentioned
the importance
of forgiving people for one mistake. Meanwhile, Chris bribed Eve to help
break up Julie and Frank. Ellen talked with
Kevin about her frustration with the interns. Kevin and Ellen deduced that
the interns air of invincibility, and unresponsive
nature towards
her, could be traced to the hostage crisis. Kevin then offered to do a
study on the interns.
Thursday, July
10, 1997 (Episode #29)
Scott made
an emotional visit to Dominique's grave and asked for her help in deciding
whether or not to stay in Port Charles.
Karen was
still sad over Scott's imminent departure from Port Charles and wanted
to say goodbye to Serena. Joe
accompanied
Karen to the lighthouse so that he could thank Scott for his help at the
review board hearing. Later, Scott
returned to
the lighthouse and told Gail, Lee, Kevin, Lucy, Karen and Joe that he and
Serena were staying in Port Charles. Joe
saw the positive
effect Karen's family had on her and hoped that they would help her get
over her separation from Jagger. After making
his final preparations for his important night with Danielle, Jake was
upset when he returned home to find to her and
Rex together.
Jake asked Rex to leave and then proposed to Danielle. Despite feeling
unworthy of Jake's love and devotion,
Danielle accepted
his marriage proposal. Rex visited Dominique's grave and expressed his
resentment over not inheriting any of her
money. Rex made it clear that nothing was going to stop him from getting
what he felt was owed to him.
Friday, July
11, 1997 (Episode #30)
Joe continued
to misread Karen's marital situation by thinking that she and Jagger were
estranged. Joe helped Karen find an
apartment
and they then celebrated with wine and pizza. Karen and Joe's warm moment
together lead them to a kiss. Mike told Mary
that the city found out about his arrest record and had delayed the Recovery
Room's liquor license. Mary told Mike that
she still
wanted to see him and did not care about his past or that he was Sonny's
father. Mary and Mike decided to become
partners as
a way to obtain a liquor license for the bar. Meanwhile, Ellen vented her
anger to Grace and Matt when she learned that
Greg Cooper was deemed unfit to stand trial. Chris woke Julie up from her
nightmare about Greg. Using the information he had
learned from her file, Chris almost got Julie to open up about her past.
Chris and Julie's quiet moment was interrupted by
Frank. Chris's
angry outburst at Frank caused Chris and Julie to part on bad terms. Julie
went to treat an Emergency Room
patient and
was shocked to find out that it was Greg Cooper.
Monday, July 14, 1997 (Episode #31)
Karen pulls away from Joe's kiss at last and shakily reminds him that
she has a husband. When he suggests that her marriage
seems to be on the rocks, an angry and flustered Karen claims she and
Jagger have never been happier. Julie freaks out when
Greg Cooper arrives at the ER on a stretcher following a car accident
during a prisoner transfer. When Greg makes a remark
about meeting "Dr. Devlin" again, Julie struggles to regain her composure
as she insists that her last name is Morris. Scotty
rescues Eve after a teenaged punk attempts to mug her on the docks.
Joe asks Karen why she neglected to mention anything
about being married when she returned to town and signed on at GH.
Finally admitting that she and Jagger have been having
some problems, Karen nevertheless declares that her personal life is
none of Joe's business. Eve is pleased to learn that Scotty
has decided to remain in Port Charles. Ellen puts aside her deep antipathy
for Greg as she treats the former intern's serious
chest injury. Meanwhile, Chris and Matt work feverishly to save the
life of a police officer injured in the same crash. Sensing
that Eve suffers from the same greed which once afflicted him, Scotty
explains to the doctor how the love of a wonderful
woman turned his life around. After the policeman dies, Julie accuses
Greg of faking the seizure in an attempt to flee from
custody. Later, Frank has to pull his enraged brother off of Greg.
Tuesday, July 15, 1997 (Episode #32)
When Chris offers his obviously upset colleague a sympathetic ear,
Julie tearfully declares that if he knew the real Dr. Morris he wouldn't
feel so friendly towards her. Karen goes to the lighthouse to let her father
know that she's moved into her own place.
When Lucy quizzes her about the state of her marriage, Karen hastily
claims that she's expecting Jagger to relocate to Port
Charles and join her in the new apartment any day now. Ellen calls
Kevin and asks for some assistance dealing with Greg
Cooper's sudden reappearance at GH. Later, Ellen doles out a rare compliment
to Matt for his game attempt to save the dying
policeman. Lucy gives Karen the good news about her pregnancy. As they
discuss the men in their lives, Lucy wonders aloud
how close Karen has become to Joe Scanlon and is intrigued when the
young woman describes her friend as her soul mate.
Meanwhile, Frank gives Joe some brotherly advice about facing the obstacles
he'll encounter in his lifetime. Encouraged by
Chris to open up, Julie reveals how her beloved older brother committed
suicide when she was fourteen years old. Ellen
confides to Kevin her concern that having Greg in the hospital will
push her already struggling interns over the edge.
Wednesday, July 16, 1997 (Episode #33)
Tired of his houseguest being constantly underfoot, Kevin prods Scott
to find a place of his own ASAP. A panicked Lucy
vetoes the idea, however, assuring Scotty and Serena they can stay
at the lighthouse just as long as they like. Danielle shows
Rex her engagement ring. Rhonda helps her daughter move into her new
garden apartment. When the subject of Jagger
inevitably arises, Karen tells Rhonda that if she has to move back
to San Francisco to save her marriage she'll do exactly that.
Rex congratulates Danielle on bagging Jake, then informs the girl he
has no intention of letting the happy couple slide by with the small, modest
wedding they had been planning. Reminding his partner in crime that she
was supposed to come with an
impressive pedigree, Rex insists on throwing a huge affair complete
with sophisticated and wealthy relatives which he'll provide
at no extra cost. Lucy admits to Kevin she fears Scotty will refuse
to let her see Serena if they force him to leave. Scotty drops
by Karen's new place and finds her arguing bitterly with her mother.
After Rhonda departs, Scotty is taken aback to discover
himself suddenly hard pressed to dispense fatherly advice to his troubled
daughter.
Thrusday, July 17, 1997 (Episode #34)
A miserable Karen opens up to Scotty about her myriad troubles with
her absentee husband. Ellen orders her interns to attend
a special meeting with Kevin. When Lucy wonders how "Gustav" knew that
Serena was named for her mother's childhood
home, Rex finally reveals his true identity. Explaining that he and
his brother were never close, Rex tells Lucy how Avery cut
him off from the rest of the Stantons and forced him to make his fortune
under an assumed name. Karen describes for Scotty
how Stone's tragic death changed Jagger and turned him into a man obsessed
with obliterating criminals at all costs. Ellen
reminds Joe and Jake that as physicians they must learn to put aside
personal feelings and treat every patient to the best of their
ability, even when that patient is someone like the despicable Greg
Cooper. Scotty gives Karen some fatherly advice about
making relationships work. Jake decides to throw a party at the Recovery
Room to celebrate his engagement. Lucy is intrigued
to learn from Rex that Dominique has another half-sister living right
there in Port Charles. Desperate to remain connected to her late friend,
Lucy entreats Rex to stay in town a while longer.
Friday, July 18, 1997 (Episode #35)
Matt overhears Ellen talking to Greg about all the people he's victimized.
As the grumbling interns gather for their meeting,
Kevin arrives to find himself facing a somewhat hostile audience. Meanwhile,
Joe tells Scotty that Karen will be in hot water
with Dr. Burgess unless she double-times it over to GH for a mandatory
meeting. Rex pretends to let Lucy persuade him to
stay in town and get to know Dominique's kin. After agreeing to give
Port Charles a try, Rex asks Lucy not to mention their
conversation to anyone or reveal his true identity. As she continues
with her diatribe in front of the unresponsive Greg Cooper,
Ellen suddenly realizes that Matt is in the room and wheels around
in outraged fury. Though Matt suggests that she seek some
help to deal with the loss of her best friend, Ellen orders the young
doctor to mind his own business and stay out of hers.
Sensing he won't get anywhere with the interns as a group, Kevin invites
them to come see him individually whenever they feel
the need to talk. Joe promises Karen he won't complicate her life any
further. Jake accepts congratulations from his colleagues
upon announcing his engagement during a party at the Recovery Room.
Greg goes into cardiac arrest after someone sneaks
into his room and injects a drug into his IV drip.
Monday, July 21, 1997 (Episode #36)
Eve needles Chris as he watches Julie slow dancing with Frank. Brooding
over the sight of his rival piloting Julie around the
floor of the Recovery Room, Chris reminds Eve that he paid her five
hundred dollars in advance to make sure that Frank gets
nowhere with the intern of his dreams. Meanwhile, Julie tells a skeptical
Frank that underneath all the bravado she's certain
Chris is a good person. Scotty fields some tough questions from Serena
as the little girl wonders if her dad is ever going to be in love with
someone the way Kevin loves Lucy. After resuscitating Greg, Tony puzzles
over the reason for his patient's seizure and subsequent cardiac arrest.
Under questioning, Ellen explains that she chose to withhold a certain
medication because she believed that Greg faked the first seizure in the
squad car. Frank asks Julie out on their first official date. Chris warns
Eve that he will make a potent enemy if she continues to cross him. Tony
removes Ellen from Greg Cooper's case. Karen is pleased and touched when
Serena remarks upon how much their father loves them both. Later, Scotty
tells Karen he wishes he had known about her early on so he could have
been part of her childhood from the start.
Tuesday, July 2, 1997 (Episode #37)
Rex drops by to congratulate Danielle and Jake on their engagement.
After the intern departs, Rex reminds Danielle how easily
her storybook romance could evaporate if she refuses to play along
with his scheme. At the Recovery Room, Mike grouses to
a sympathetic Lucy and Kevin as the ravenous members of the press hound
him for news of his fugitive son. Worried that Mary might be keeping her
distance from him because of all the bad publicity about Sonny, Mike questions
Joe about his absent
mother. Karen is upset to hear the latest news from GH about Greg Cooper.
After confiding how she's just learned that
Dominique has an uncle and a second half-sister in town, Lucy asks
Kevin if he thinks she should disclose Rex's secret to
Scotty. Meanwhile, Danielle gets rattled when Rex cautions her to expect
a visit some time soon from the ever curious Lucy
Coe. Scotty dispenses another dose of fatherly advice to his oldest
daughter as Karen struggles to explain the difference
between her connection to Joe and her relationship with Jagger. Joe
assures Mike that Mary will pay no attention to the rumors being circulated
in the press about Sonny and Brenda.
Wednesday, July 23, 1997 (Episode #38)
Eve enjoys seeing Ellen under the gun after word spreads that the chief
resident was removed from Cooper's case. Chris
makes a move to drive a wedge between Frank and Julie. Scotty overhears
Kevin asking Mac to check up on Lucy's new
business associate. Lucy pays a call on Danielle, introducing herself
as a dear friend of Dominique's. Frank and Julie head off
on their first date. Grace tries to reassure Ellen, then is summoned
by Alan to give her statement on the treatment Greg Cooper
received in the hospital's emergency room. Later, Ellen admits to Matt
that she made a mistake and lost her objectivity when
she saw Greg arrive in the ER. During a picnic on the beach, Julie
and Frank watch the sunset together. Kevin advises Scotty
to butt out of his relationship with Lucy. Trying to ingratiate herself
with her late friend's half-sister, Lucy compares notes with
Danielle on how it feels to be engaged to two of the most eligible
doctors in Port Charles. Kevin's spirits rise after Scotty
confides that he's thinking about moving into the brownstone with Serena
until he's able to build a new home on his own piece
of land. Matt encourages Ellen to have more faith in her own ability.
Thursday, July 24, 1997 (Episode #39)
After ducking out of sight to prevent Lucy from spotting him, Rex congratulates
Danielle on a job well done. On the beach,
Frank tells an uneasy Julie how much he appreciates how straight forward
she always is. Meanwhile, at GH, Eve presses Chris
to reveal what inside info he has on Julie. Grace hesitantly reports
to Ellen that she's about to come up for a formal review as
the investigation into the Cooper case continues. Matt calmly fields
questions from a young patient when the girl wonders aloud
why her doctor is in a wheelchair. Explaining how proud Frank Senior
was of him during his years of glory on the football field
at Notre Dame, Frank confides to Julie his fear that the drinking which
eventually caused his father's death began when his own
knee injury ended his college sports career. Lucy is pleased and touched
when Danielle asks for information on the sister she
never knew. Flustered by some remarks from a concerned Matt, Ellen
asks Kevin to drop by the hospital for a consultation.
Frank's pleasant evening with Julie comes to an unhappy end after he
opens his mail and discovers some unsettling information
about his tenant. Chris deliberately throws a monkey wrench into Eve's
examination of a woman with chest pains.
Friday, July 25, 1997 (Episode #40)
Eve furiously warns Chris never to contradict her in front of a patient
again. After reading the newspaper clipping about Julie's
aristocratic family, an angry Frank wonders why the woman he cares
for has been lying to him all along. Reminding Ellen how
he may not be able to maintain doctor/patient confidentiality, Kevin
suggests that she unburden herself to an attorney instead.
Scotty rushes Lucy to the hospital after she suffers another round
of severe abdominal pains. When Frank accuses her of
slumming, Julie explains that she made up a new name and hid the truth
about her background because she didn't want to trade
on her famous father's reputation. Insisting she's wanted to come clean
for weeks, Julie admits to Frank that she simply lost her
nerve. Kevin fills Ellen in on how his breakdown prompted a series
of malpractice lawsuits which very nearly bankrupted GH.
In the emergency room, a frightened Serena demands to be taken home.
Unwilling to leave Lucy, Scotty is grateful when Eve
volunteers to watch his little girl while he stands by his ailing friend.
Lee informs Ellen that she and the hospital have both been
named in a malpractice suit brought by Greg's family. Kevin races to
Lucy's side after hearing that their unborn child may be in
danger.
Monday, July 28, 1997 (Episode #41)
Julie begs an angry Frank to believe that although she hid the truth
about her family background she never lied about her
feelings for him. Chris arrives and is secretly pleased to note all
the tension in the room as he reports that Greg is being
transferred to another hospital. In the ER. Kevin tries to reassure
a terrified Lucy as Dr. Newman runs some tests. Meanwhile,
out in the waiting room, Scotty fears that his old pal is about to
lose her unborn child. A devastated Lucy and Kevin cling to
one another after Dr. Newman regretfully confirms that she can no longer
hear the fetal heartbeat. When Julie wonders if their
friendship is kaput, Frank admits he isn't sure where the relationship
stands. Scotty explains to Serena that Lucy's baby was too small to survive
and had to go live in heaven with Dominique. Later, while stargazing with
Serena, Eve notices a bruise on the
child's arm and questions her about it. Wiping away her tears, Lucy
tries to put on a brave face for Kevin as she's wheeled up
to the OR for a D&C. Left alone in the exam room, Kevin's own composure
crumbles as the enormity of his loss finally hits
home.
Tuesday, July 29, 1997 (Episode #42)
Excited by the prospect of a reunion with her husband, Karen looks
for someone to cover her shift so she can go to the airport
to meet Jagger's plane. A grieving Lucy tells Kevin she dreamed about
bringing their baby home. Meanwhile, Serena vows to
overcome her fear of hospitals long enough to deliver a get well gift
to Lucy. After bumping into Danielle, Serena tries to recall
why the young woman seems so familiar. Joe volunteers to cover for
Karen but admits to his friend that part of him wishes
Jagger was a total jerk so that she would walk away from her husband
without a backwards glance. Kevin cautions Lucy not
to sublimate her feelings about the miscarriage or try to pretend that
she isn't in pain. Dropping by to check on his patient, Jake
tells Kevin and Lucy he hopes he and his own fiancee will be able to
weather any hard times ahead as well as they have. Rex
instructs an appalled Danielle to exploit Lucy's misfortune and use
her sorrow to their own advantage. Karen promises to bring
Jagger over to Scotty's place so he can meet her little sister. Hoping
to make Lucy feel better, Serena gives her friend her
favorite stuffed animal, unaware that Lucy was the one who bought her
the kitty years ago. Rhonda regretfully informs her
daughter that Jagger is not coming to Port Charles after all. As Scotty
tries to comfort his old pal, Serena is startled to overhear her father
talking about how Lucy gave birth to her.
Wednesday, July 30, 1997 (Episode #43)
Upset to learn that Jagger isn't coming to Port Charles, Karen asks
Rhonda what feeble excuse he used this time when he
phoned with the bad news. Frank angrily accuses Eve of attempting to
sabotage his growing friendship with Julie. Unwilling to
hurt Lucy further by hitting her when she's down, Danielle shakily
informs Rex that she won't carry out his evil bidding any
longer. After discovering that Serena overheard his remarks about the
strange circumstances surrounding her birth, Scotty
decides the time has come to try to explain to his daughter the complicated
story of her beginnings. Still short of funds, Eve
suggests to an amused Mike that he set up a running tab for her. Later,
Eve puts the bite on Jake, who reluctantly agrees to
lend her a few bucks. As Mary returns to town, her "mother's radar"
immediately picks up on the fact that her oldest son is in
emotional turmoil. Later, comparing notes with Mike on the problems
of parenting, Mary tells her business partner she's
decided that if she's to have any life of her own she will have to
let her grown sons make their own way from now on. Karen
walks into the on call room just in time to hear Joe bitterly complaining
to his brother about Jagger's churlish behavior. Scotty
tells an amazed Serena how she came from Lucy's tummy instead of her
mommy's. Afterwards, Lucy is moved to tears when
Serena thanks her friend for giving her life.
Thrusday, July 31, 1997 (Episode #44)
After ducking out of sight to prevent Lucy from spotting him, Rex congratulates
Danielle on a job well done. On the beach,
Frank tells an uneasy Julie how much he appreciates how straight forward
she always is. Meanwhile, at GH, Eve presses Chris
to reveal what inside info he has on Julie. Grace hesitantly reports
to Ellen that she's about to come up for a formal review as
the investigation into the Cooper case continues. Matt calmly fields

asks Kevin to drop by the hospital for a consultation.
Frank's pleasant evening with Julie comes to an unhappy end after he
opens his mail and discovers some unsettling information
about his tenant. Chris deliberately throws a monkey wrench into Eve's
examination of a woman with chest pains.
