The Story of Danielle Ashley 
Renee Allman played Danielle Ashley. Danielle originally came to the town of Port Charles with her evil Uncle Rex Stanton. Danielle is a struggling actress who came to town from New York. Her and her Uncle Rex kidnapped Serena Baldwin. That led to Scott Baldwin's return to Port Charles, looking frantically for his little girl. Danielle aided Rex in kidnapping Serena. They kept Serena locked up in a bedroom. Danielle, when attending to Serena, wore a brunette wig. Danielle became involved and fell in love with Dr. Jake Marshak, at the time. She befriended Lucy Coe and Lucy gave her a job at Jax Cosmetics. Danielle made the ransom pickup. The "kidnappers" requested diamonds which were on a dress of Lucy's. During the Nurse's Ball, Lucy put the diamond dress outside in the hallway trash bin, where Danielle in disguise as a male janitor made the pickup and went home to Rex. During the kidnapping also, Danielle was ordered by Rex to rundown Scott with a car. Scott soon revored in General Hospital. Danielle brought Rex home the ransom. She asked him if it's over. Rex tells her their scheme is not far from over. Yet, they held on to their promise. They left Serena in the cabin where she was born and Scott, Lucy, + Kevin soon found her. Danielle later revealed to Lucy her true identity. She told Lucy that she is the late Dominique Baldwin's half-sister. This would be true, because both Danielle and Dominique had the same father, one Avery Stanton, also Rex's brother. Lucy and Kevin were shocked, because Dominique never mentioned anything about a half-sister. Meanwhile, Rex was Lucy's German business partner. He gave himself the name Gustav Bauge. This way Lucy wouldn't be able to recognize the last name Stanton. Then, Rex revealed his true identity to Lucy, who again is shocked. He also tells Lucy that he knows his neice, Danielle. Danielle is living with Jake this whole time and keeping secrets from him and they are engaged to be married. Scott soons finds out from Lucy & Kevin about both Danielle and Rex living in Port Charles. Scott, Lucy, and Kevin get to thinking and figure out that Rex & Danielle must have had some part in Serena's kidnapping. The problem is proving it. At points where Danielle wanted to get out of Rex's scheming, Rex blackmailed her into staying because all the kidnapping evidence points to her -- fingerprints on bills, the car, etc..). When Lucy figured out Danielle might have had part in the kidnapping, she fired her from Jax Cosmetics. Jake finally discovered Danielle's secrets and Rex's scheme. Rex blackmailed Jake into helping him to. Jake threw Danielle out when he found out that their relationship was setup by Rex and later Jake called off their engagement. Rex had Danielle meet a doctor in a New York park; the doctor being Jake. Danielle was eating an ice cream while rollerblading and on purpose she ran into a stranger named Jake, spilling her ice cream on him....and thats how their relationship started, but later on Danielle fell deeply in love with Jake. While still living together, Jake & Danielle always got unexpected visits from Rex. Knowing Jake is an expert in the field of DNA Research, Rex ordered his help. Rex's latest scheme involved proving Danielle is Serena's biological mother to still go after Serena's money, "The Stanton Fortune", as Rex called it. Danielle, forced by Rex, confessed to Scott and Lucy that she is Serena's biological mother. A little bit of history is involved in this scheme. Dominique, who is Serena's mother and Danielle's half-sister, had an illness and couldn't carry Serena. She got her best friend, Lucy Coe, to be her surrogate. Scott's sperm and Dominique's egg were placed in Lucy. Thus, Lucy delivered Serena to birth. Dr. Tony Jones performed the exchange of sperm + egg into Lucy's body. Rex & Danielle proposed that the egg was not Dominique, but Danielle's instead. Also, they proposed that Dominique secretly requested Danielle's egg and never told anyone. But to Lucy's opinion, that's not something Dominique would do. Jake comes in, because Rex had him do DNA test to see if Danielle and Serena match. Lucy & Scott deduce that only one person can be called to see if this maternity is true, the Lab doctor. Before Dr. Tony Jones received the egg + sperm it had to be taken to the lab. With one phone call, Scott discovers that the Lab doctor (who was a female) died in a mysterious boating accident. Scot igures it had to be Rex who killed the only living proof. This was never proven though. Later on, Scott was drugged by Rex. Rex snuck into the lighthouse and into Scott's briefcase, where he drugged envelopes. Rex called the cops on Scott when he left the hospital, all drugged and driving Lucy's car. Rex and Danielle then sued for custody for Serena, upon Danielle's moving in with Rex. Danielle testimony at the trial made Scott sound like an unfit father, but the temporary custody was still left with Lee and Gail Baldwin, Serena's grandparents. Danielle was faced by Serena and Gail at GH and Serena started yelling at Danielle. Then, Karen (Scott's daughter and Serena's stepsister) came over and warned Danielle to leave everyone alone. Danielle, fed up with Rex's scheme and even living with him, packed up her bags and left. She went to the firehouse to confess all to Scott. Scott at first didn't want her presence, but he let her stay anyway. He gave Agent Conklin a phone call, because he wanted the FBI present when Danielle confesses to Serena's kidnapping and everything else. Before Agent Conklin arrives, Scott's phone rings. He picks it up and its for Danielle. Scott says its Jake. Danielle agrees to take the call in another room, where she'll have privacy. She goes into the other room and picks up the phone. She's surprised to hear Rex's voice instead of Jake's. They exchange heated words and Danielle is scared by Rex. Knowing that Rex knows she's at Scott's, Danielle flees out the back door. Later, from a pay phone, she called Scott and left a message on his machine. She said that she had to leave and that she would call him later and talk. Later, in the lobby of 6th floor of General Hospital's East Wing, Frank comes rushing in with other paramedics, bringing in an injured person on a gurnee. Matt being their tells the paramedics to take the person to Trauma Room 2. Frank then tells Matt that "It's Danielle. It's Jake's Danielle.".  Matt tells Grace to immediately page Jake to get over here. Jake comes into Trauma Room 2 where Joe is treating Danielle. Jake wants to help, but Frank tells him no and holds him back. Meanwhile, in the lobby, Scott asks Karen the whereabouts of Jake or Danielle. Karen tells Scott that Danielle's car went off the Port Charles bridge and that she's in surgery. Then, Rex walks in after hearing the news, and wants to know about Danielle's condition and he appears worried. Scott blasts him right away and tells Rex that he better not have had anything to do with this. Jake comes out and sees Rex and Scott. He yells at Rex and attacks him, but is soon pulled off Rex. He accuses Rex of injuring Danielle. Then, Jakeis told that Danielle has come to and is asking for him. Danielle pledges her love to Jake before surgery. During surgery, the trauma team tries their best. Much to their great efforts though, Danielle dies fighting for her life on the operating table.
